DIY Easter Sweet Jar by The Sweet Hostess

I am so pleased to be writing a guest feature for Crafts and Giggles. We have been admiring their craft adventures for some time now and so excited to be part of the action! My name is Melissa owner of The Sweet Hostess and creator of all things sweet!

I am a big fan of Easter and thought it would be nice to do a craft blog on DIY Easter chocolate jars. This is something I have made and created for friends and family the past few years and I always have so much fun doing it.  To create my Easter jars I used the following materials:
Picture

Shredded Paper – This has a denser quality to shredded tissue paper, you will find lots of Easter colours (green, pink and yellow).
Jars – Old jam jars which I had available in the house and also a cute Victorian style plastic jar.
Tissue Paper – To decorate the lid on one of the jars. You can also use some scrap material as well as brown paper giving a rustic feel.
Easter Sweets – The fun part!!! I loved the look of white chocolate Easter bunnies within the jars and I found a Lindt and Milky Way version. I also used small chocolate and jelly eggs - tasty and they look super cute too.
Candy Cups – Otherwise known as jelly cups.
Wooden Spoons – Plain wooden spoons are readily available but we have some cute printed ones via our website Twine & Ribbons – Used to decorate the jars.
Stickers – I found this cute glittered adhesive frame in my local craft shop. Any sort of stickers, jewels etc stuck onto the jar can look amazing and give your jar a bit of bling!
Glitter – We love glitter, it should really be used in all craft projects!
Tape and Glue – I needed these for my ‘glitter’ jar which you will see in a moment. For the glue I just used a normal craft PVA.
To create our glittered jar we filled a bowl with glitter and taped up our jar. The tape is used to create a nice line. I put the glitter down the bottom of the jar, but you could also put in the middle using two pieces of tape. Tape is not necessary and sometimes it is quite nice to do a messy effect. I brushed the craft PVA glue on the bottom of the jar and sprinkled the glitter evenly around the jar. Leave to dry and then carefully peel the tape away.

For this jar we used the tissue over the lid and secured with ribbon. Inside we filled with jelly eggs, white chocolate bunny and a few strands of the shredded paper to create a ‘grassy’ effect for our bunny. We were pretty pleased with the results.

Another idea is to fill a small pot with a dessert. Here we made white chocolate mousse, but you could also use jelly, custard or yoghurt. Adding the wooden spoon and twine gives your dessert pot a quirky edge. Garnish with more chocolate eggs of course!

Candy cups can be filled with your favourite Easter chocolate, wrapped in cellophane and tied with some pretty ribbon to create an instant gift.

And lastly to create our Victorian style jar, we added the gorgeous glittery adhesive sticker which framed our white chocolate bunny perfectly.

I hope our DIY Easter jars have given you some ideas on how you can create your Easter treats. Give it a go, your family and friends will love you for it!
