How is everyone? We hope everyone is staying safe after Storm Denis and Storm Ciara. As we look out of the window we can see blue sky which is a breath of fresh air!
We thought we would just take a moment to sit down and take in 2020 so far for Crafts and Giggles! As we said in a previous blog we had a good feeling about 2020, but we had no idea just how busy it was going to be! We are so grateful for everyone’s craft party enquires and booking so far! Sometimes we have to pinch ourselves that we get to do what we love the most for a job! A lady at one of our recent Corporate Craft Workshops said "you are so lucky to be doing a job you love" and she is so right! We get so excited about every single enquiry and every single Craft Party we host! Katie made her dream a reality back in 2011, when she set Crafts and Giggles up. She is so proud of what Crafts and Giggles has achieved, and continues to achieve. It couldn't happen without our talented freelance workshop providers, and crafty clients, so thank you!! If you are interested in booking Crafts and Giggles for your party or event get in touch! We would love to help!

We can’t think of anything more enjoyable than crafts alongside a yummy afternoon tea! On Saturday one of our craft hen parties did just this! We organised afternoon tea at The Slug and Lettuce in York alongside a quilt making session for them!
We spent time liaising with The Slug and Lettuce to ensure the hen party's requirements were met, from their dietary requirements to a great spacious table. We wanted it to be just perfect! Sophia hosted the Quilt Making session, and arrived at the venue before the hens arrived to ensure the crafts were set up beautifully. The hen party enjoyed sewing the quilt squares alongside eating what looked like the tastiest afternoon tea! This is what they said about it "we had a fantastic time thank you - Helen (the bride) absolutely loved it! Sophia was wonderful and we've said we'd like to do another one of your workshops at some point. We will definitely recommend you again! Thank you very much" Thank you very much to the hens for having us, and to the Slug and Lettuce for hosting us! If you are looking for a fabulous Craft Hen Party, get in touch! We would love to help you! Yesterday we were lucky enough to be invited by The White Chapel Building and Derwent London to be a part of their time to change campaign with two Ceramic Painting Workshops. They were offering a week of mixed activities to encourage the staff to take time to talk, and to take care of their mental wellbeing within the work place.
It was such a wonderful afternoon, and extremely rewarding for both the participants and Katie who hosted the Ceramic Painting. The staff took time out of their busy working day to sit down for an hour and be creative. Everyone each painted a mug and coaster. The designs were fabulous! The feedback from doing the corporate crafts was amazing! One lady said “I have an extremely stressful job, so being able to sit down and do this is lovely and so needed, thank you” another lady said “thank you, this is the best thing I have ever done” This feedback means the world to us, but it was also important to hear these words because it proves just how important creativity is for mental wellbeing. Thank you so much for having us and allowing us to be apart of such an important campaign. We had the best time and engaged with some amazing people. If you are looking for some crafty corporate fun for your staff get in touch we would love to help! Here at Crafts and Giggles HQ we have had the pleasure of speaking to hundreds of hen parties so far this year! We think that 202o is the year of the wedding, and what a great year to get married?! A brand new decade and brand new married life!
(Did you know that Astrologists believe that February 20th 2020 is the best day to get married because key planets for 'commitment, emotional stability and sacred contracts' will align) We have been inundated with Craft Hen Party enquiries. From Unicorn Headdress Making to Flower Crown Making! 2020 is looking like it will be full of Crafts and Giggles for many hens! We can't wait to meet all of our wonderful brides and their bridal shower! If you are looking to include some crafty fun into your hen party celebrations, get in touch! We are reflecting on our Christmas Craft Parties and Events last year. Our most popular session was Christmas Cracker Making. It is a great crafty activity to do with work colleagues, friends or family. During our sessions everyone learns how to make handmade crackers with all of the trimmings!
During one of our Christmas Cracker Making sessions one of the participants asked us the history of the Cracker, and much to my embarrassment I didn't know! So I thought I would rectify this and do some research into its history. Apparently according to Historic UK Christmas Crackers are a British tradition dating way back to Victorian times. In the early 1850s, a London confectioner Tom Smith started adding a motto to his sugared almond bon-bons (yummy) which he sold wrapped in a twisted paper package. He was inspired to add the “bang” when he heard the crackle of a log he had just put on the fire, which gives us all the festive feels. He decided to make a log shaped package that would produce a surprise bang and inside would be an almond and a motto. Later the sugared almond was replaced with a small gift. Originally sold as the Cosaque it soon became known by the public as the ‘cracker’. The paper hat was added to the cracker in the early 1900s by his sons and by the end of the 1930s, the love poems had been replaced by jokes or limericks. The cracker was soon adopted as a traditional festive custom. So there we go, the history of the Cracker thanks to Historic UK! We love the tradition, and how they are still loved and used in peoples homes across the UK today. We couldn't imagine Christmas Day without the Cracker! If you would like to add the handmade touch to your Christmas Day, why not book one of our Christmas Cracker Making Workshops, we are sure it will go off with a bang!
Last weekend we were lucky enough to host a Flower Crown Making Party at a beautiful Baby Shower in Cheshire. We were asked to set up a crafty drop in station for mum to be, friends and family.
Often these events take place during the day time, but this was an evening of crafty fun! Did you know we can host our craft parties in the evening? Anyway it was such a lovely Flower Crown session hosted by the talented Olivia. All 24 ladies enjoyed getting stuck in and creating. They were so proud of their makes they wore them for the rest of the evening. Our Flower Crown Making sessions have fast become one of our most popular craft parties to date! They are so relaxing, and the perfect craft for all abilities. If you are looking to have a Flower Crown Making session at your baby shower or event get in touch! We would love to provide the Crafts and Giggles! We can't believe we have been hosting our infamous Nationwide Craft Hen Parties since 2011...It has been the most amazing 9 years of crafty fun, more that we could ever have imagined! We have to thank our wonderful crafty clients and workshop providers for this, we couldn't do it without you!
We treat each craft hen party as unique and special, really caring about the needs of the hen party. We think this is why we are still going strong, and our hens come back! People often ask why and how we set up Crafts and Giggles. So we thought we would share with you (a short version) of our story. Katie the founder of Crafts and Giggles completed a Fine Art Degree is 2010. After her degree she wanted to continue to make, as well as share her passion of arts and crafts with as many people as possible. That is how Crafts and Giggles came about. It started of with just Katie hosting the craft parties. Much to her delight their was a demand for them! It organically grew to the point where Katie needed help to host the parties across the UK. That is when many talented freelance workshop providers were added to the books. Katie is so proud to be able to offer so many talented artists an outlet to share their creativity and knowledge with others. The most rewarding thing about Crafts and Giggles is inspiring others. It is so surprising how many people believe they don't have a creative bone in their body! Often when they finish crafting with us they come away with a changed mindset, that they can make. That is why we love what we do! Here's to the next 9 years! If you are looking for hen party crafts get in touch, we would love to help you! Happy New Year everyone (only 10 days late...). This is the first time we have taken a seat! 2020 Craft Party enquires and bookings have gone crazy, not that we are complaining one bit! It is SO exciting to hear about everyone's party plans, and we are feel so lucky to be apart of them with our crafty fun!
As well as enquires for our infamous Craft Hen Parties we are receiving many Baby Shower Craft Party enquires (in fact we are hosting a Flower Crown Making Party at a Baby Shower in Chester this Saturday) and Corporate Craft enquires! Helping people to have the best crafty experience brings us so much joy! We are bubbling with excitement to plan, and execute so many craft parties throughout 2020! If you are looking for some creative fun get in touch, we would love to help you and be apart of your celebrations! |
