Make Your Own Stick Man Family!

4/2/2020

As it is International Children's Book Day we thought it was the perfect day to combine our favourite children's book "Stick Man" by Julia Donaldson with Crafts! So we have made our very own Stick Family! We wanted to share this idea with you so you can have a go too! This is the perfect crafty activity to do as a family. (Please ensure children are supervised at all times.)  Check out our method below:

What craft materials will I need?

  • Sticks from your garden or a woodland close to your home
  • Paper or card
  • PVA or Hot Glue
  • Fabic Scraps
  • Black felt tip or pen
  • Adult supervision

Step 1.

Once you have chosen your sticks to make up your family, you will need to draw out the eyes for all of your sticks.

In the centre of each circle draw a small black circle for the pupil.

Cut each circle out. If you have small hands ask your grown up for supervision.

Place the eyes next to each stick so you know which eyes belong to which stick.

Step 2.

Using the PVA or Hot glue, glue your eyes onto your sticks.

We glued our eyes about two thirds of the way up the stick.

When gluing please ensure you are supervised by a grown up.

Step 3.

Using your scrap fabrics dress your sticks.

For the mummy and daughter stick we made skirts for them, and a nappy for the baby stick!

You will need to use the glue to stick the fabric so please ask a grown up for help.

Repeat until all of your stick people are dressed!

Ta Da! You have a made your lovely Stick Man Family!
